Spirit Box – Privacy Policy

Spirit Box is designed to respect your privacy. Your sessions, logs, and settings stay on your device. Spirit Box does not run its own servers, does not create user accounts, and does not sell or share your data with third parties.

What Spirit Box is

Spirit Box is an entertainment application. All words, sounds, and readings produced by the app are generated algorithmically and are not evidence of spirits, hauntings, ghosts, or communication with the deceased. The app makes no claim, express or implied, of genuine paranormal detection or communication.

The EMF meter displays real-time readings from your device's magnetometer sensor, which responds to ordinary magnetic sources such as electronics and metal objects. It is not a paranormal detection instrument.

Spirit Box is a game, not a counseling or mediumship service. If you are exploring grief or loss, please keep that distinction in mind, and consider speaking with a qualified counselor or support service instead. You use the app at your own discretion and risk.

What Spirit Box collects

Spirit Box is developed and operated by Foster Apps LLC. The app stores your session logs, readings, and settings on your device only.

Spirit Box does not:

• Sell your data.
• Require an account or email address.
• Store your session data on any Foster Apps server.

Ads

Spirit Box shows ads served by Google AdMob to support the free version of the app. On iOS, the app will ask for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before using tracking data for ad personalization. If you decline, or on regions where consent is required, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized to you.

AdMob and its ad network partners may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads. This data is handled under Google's own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Spirit Box Pro subscribers do not see ads, and no ad SDK activity occurs for Pro accounts.

How voice detection and the EMF meter work

If you enable voice detection, audio is processed entirely on your device to detect speech activity and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted off your device. The EMF meter reads your device's built-in magnetometer directly on-device. Neither feature sends data to Foster Apps or any third party.

On-device storage

Your session logs, readings, and settings are stored locally on your device. This data is not synced to iCloud or any Foster Apps server. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data will permanently remove it.

In-app purchases

Spirit Box Pro is available as a subscription through Apple's App Store. All billing is handled by Apple. Spirit Box never sees your payment details. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID settings.

Support email

When you email support at support@fosterapps.com, the contents of your email are stored in your email provider's systems.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Spirit Box evolves. When it changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will be revised. Significant changes may also be mentioned in release notes.
